Custom Joint Bearing Manufacturer: Installation Methods for Joint Bearings

Release date:

Author:

The custom joint bearing manufacturer states that a joint bearing is a spherical sliding bearing whose sliding contact surfaces consist of an inner spherical surface and an outer spherical surface, enabling rotation and angular oscillation in any direction during operation. It is manufactured using specialized processes such as surface phosphating, sintering, lining, and coating. Joint bearings feature high load-carrying capacity, shock resistance, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, self-aligning capability, and excellent lubrication.

Custom Joint Bearings The manufacturer states that a spherical plain bearing is a type of spherical sliding bearing whose sliding contact surfaces consist of an inner spherical surface and an outer spherical surface, enabling rotation and angular oscillation during operation. It is manufactured using specialized processes such as surface phosphating, sintering, lining, and spraying. Spherical plain bearings feature high load-carrying capacity, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, self-aligning capability, and excellent lubrication.

Custom Joint Bearings The factory stated, The methods for installing and removing spherical bearings should be determined according to the bearing’s design, size, and the nature of the fit between the bearing and its mating components. Installation and removal forces must be applied directly to the end faces of the bearing’s interference‑fit retaining rings; pressure must not be transmitted through the rolling elements, as this can cause indentations on the bearing’s working surfaces, impair normal operation, and even lead to bearing failure. Components such as the cage, seals, and dust covers are prone to deformation, so installation or removal forces must not be applied to these parts.

  1. The inner ring of the bearing is interference‑fit with the shaft, while the outer ring has a relatively loose fit with the housing. A press can be used to press the bearing onto the shaft first; then, the shaft—along with the bearing—is inserted into the housing. During pressing, place a soft‑metal mounting sleeve on the end face of the bearing. The inner diameter of the sleeve should be slightly larger than the shaft journal diameter, and its outer diameter should be slightly smaller than the inner‑ring shoulder of the spherical bearing, to avoid pressing against the cage. When installing the bearing, ensure that the centerlines of the bearing bore and the shaft coincide. Any angular misalignment between the bearing and the shaft not only makes installation difficult but can also cause indentation, bending of the shaft journal, or even fracture of the bearing’s inner ring. For spherical bearings, the magnitude and direction of the load are briefly described. When a press is unavailable or cannot be used, the bearing can be installed using a mounting sleeve and a hammer. The impact force should be distributed evenly around the entire circumference of the bearing’s ring end face; therefore, the end face of the mounting sleeve subjected to hammer blows should be spherical.

  2. When the outer ring of the spherical plain bearing is interference-fitted into the housing bore and the inner ring is loosely fitted onto the shaft, the bearing can first be press‑fitted into the housing bore; in this case, the outer diameter of the fitting sleeve should be slightly smaller than the bore diameter.

  3. Custom Joint Bearings The factory stated, The inner ring of the spherical bearing and the shaft, as well as the outer ring and the housing bore, are all interference‑fit. The end face of the assembly sleeve must be designed to form a ring that can simultaneously compress the end faces of both the inner and outer rings of the spherical bearing, or a disc‑shaped sleeve and an assembly sleeve must be used, so that pressure is transmitted concurrently to both the inner and outer rings. Meanwhile, the spherical bearing is press‑fitted into the shaft and the housing.

  Precautions for installing spherical bearings:

  1. Keep the joint bearing and its surrounding area clean.

  2. Use with care and precision; careless handling that subjects the bearing to severe impact may result in damage such as scratches, dents, or fractures.

  3. Use the appropriate tools.

  4. Take care to prevent rust on the joint bearings, avoid using them in humid environments, and wear gloves to keep your sweat from coming into contact with them.

  5. Users should be familiar with spherical bearings.

  6. Develop operating procedures for the use of spherical bearings.
